What this tool returns about NSFW subreddits
The NSFW Subreddit Finder searches Reddit's community index for a topic and includes communities Reddit marks as adult. It returns the same fields as the regular Subreddit Finder: name, title, description, subscriber count, creation date and the NSFW flag. You can ask for adult communities only or for a mixed list.
It returns community information only, with no posts, images or video. The search doesn't cover rules or moderators. For those, call the subreddit endpoint, which is the same one behind Subreddit Stats.
Who can use it
This tool is for adults with a signed-in account who have turned on 18+ tools. There is no anonymous version and no free run on this page. The results include adult communities, and we won't show those to visitors we can't age-gate.
Most people use it for brand safety, moderation or research: finding which communities to exclude from a campaign, which ones mention a product, or how a topic is discussed in age-restricted spaces. If you only need regular communities, the Subreddit Finder runs here without signing in.
If an account doesn't have the 18+ setting on, the API returns an access error, makes no search and charges nothing.
How to get access
- Create an account. Sign up with your email.
- Turn on 18+ tools. Open Settings, confirm you are 18 or older, and switch on 18+ tools. You can turn it off again at any time.
- Run it. Use the playground in your dashboard, or call the endpoint from your code with your API key. The full request format is in /docs/tools/reddit-nsfw-communities.
This page and the docs both list the cost of each call. Failed calls are not charged.
