How to export Reddit comments from a thread
To export Reddit comments, paste the thread's URL above. The tool loads the post and its comments and returns them as a flat list, with a parent id and a depth on every comment. With those two fields you can rebuild the exact reply tree in a spreadsheet, a database or your own code.
Each comment includes:
- the full comment text
- the author's username
- the score and the date it was posted
- the parent id and depth
- a permalink to the comment
The free page shows the post and the first 25 comments, indented the way Reddit shows them. Sign in to export the thread to CSV, JSON or PDF and to load more pages of comments.
Why the count can differ from Reddit's
Reddit shows a comment count on every post, but on a very large thread no thread API returns every comment. Some replies sit behind "load more" links that Reddit only fills in on demand. So you know what you have, this tool reports two numbers: the comment count Reddit reports for the post, and how many replies were not loaded. Reddit may also count deleted and removed comments, which have no text to export.
If you only need the post itself, the Reddit Scraper is lighter. To find threads worth exporting, start with Reddit Post Search, or search the comments directly with Reddit Comment Search.
Export threads with the API
GET /v1/reddit/threads/{id} returns the post and up to about 100 comments per page, with a cursor for the next page. AI agents can call the same thing over MCP as the reddit.thread tool. The API reference has the response shape.
