Free Reddit user search

Type a keyword and this Reddit user search lists the accounts whose username or profile matches it, with karma and account age for each one.

Updated

How it works

  1. 1Type a keyword: a brand, a product, a name or part of a username.
  2. 2We search Reddit's account index for profiles that match it.
  3. 3You get a list of accounts, each linking to a full profile lookup.

What you get

  • Username
  • Account age
  • Karma total, plus the post and comment split when Reddit provides it
  • Bio and badges when the profile has them
  • Link to the full profile on the Reddit User Lookup page

Use cases

  • Find a company's official Reddit account before you mention it in a post.
  • Check whether a founder or a public figure has a verified presence on Reddit.
  • Spot look-alike accounts that copy your brand name.
  • Build a short list of accounts in a niche before you read their posts.

How Reddit user search works

Reddit user search matches your keyword against usernames and profile text and returns the accounts that fit. It's the quickest way to answer "does this brand or person have a Reddit account, and which one is real?"

Each result shows the username, the account's age and its karma. Older accounts with steady karma are usually the genuine ones. If a brand-new account has almost no karma and a name close to a well-known company, look twice before you trust it.

Some tips for sharper results:

  • Search the shortest distinctive word. "figma" finds more than "figma design official".
  • Try the brand's common spellings and its product names, since many companies post from a product account.
  • Look at the bio. Official accounts often name the company or link its website there.

Reddit only returns public profiles. Suspended and deleted accounts don't appear, so a missing result doesn't prove that nobody ever used the name.

Already know the username?

Then you don't need a search. Open the Reddit User Lookup to see one profile in full: account age, the karma split, bio, badges and whether Reddit still shows the account to everyone. To read what that person has said, use Reddit Comment History. For the posts they submitted, use Reddit Post History.

Every row in the results above links straight to the lookup page, so one click takes you from a keyword to a full profile.

Search accounts from your code

The same search runs through the API at /docs/tools/reddit-user-search. By default each call returns a page of up to 25 profiles plus a cursor for the next page, and the JSON shape is the same every time. You can use it to check a list of brand names on a schedule, or let an AI agent find the right account before it reads that account's posts.

Questions

Can I search Reddit users by their real name?
Only if the name appears in the username or the profile text. Reddit doesn't store real names, so the search can only match what people chose to put on their profile.
Why is an account I know missing from the results?
Reddit leaves out suspended, deleted and some private profiles. If you know the exact username, the Reddit User Lookup will tell you whether Reddit still shows it.
Does the person know I searched for them?
No. The search reads public profile data and sends nothing to the accounts it finds.
Are adult accounts included?
Not on this page. Accounts marked as adult are left out unless a signed-in user has turned on 18+ tools in Settings.
Is this tool free?
Yes. Each visitor gets 10 free runs a day, and each run shows the first rows of the result. With a free account you see the full page, and the API has no daily cap beyond your credits and rate limit.
Is this affiliated with Reddit?
No. ChatterAPI is independent and not affiliated with Reddit, Inc. or X Corp.
