What Reddit NSFW post search returns

Reddit NSFW post search works like the regular Reddit Post Search, except that it keeps the posts Reddit marks as adult. You search by keyword across all of Reddit or inside one subreddit, and sorting and time filters work the same way.

Each result is the same post object the regular search returns: title, body text, subreddit, author, score, comment count, time posted, the NSFW flag and a link. You can request adult posts only or a mixed list. Reddit search operators such as quoted phrases and OR work inside the query.

The API returns whatever Reddit returns. Media links appear only in the dashboard playground, and only for accounts that have opted in. This page never displays results or media.

Who can use it

This tool is for adults who are signed in and have turned on 18+ tools. Because the results can include adult content, there is no anonymous version and no free run on this page.

Most people use it for brand safety, moderation and research, where leaving out adult posts would give them an incomplete picture. If you don't need adult posts, Reddit Post Search runs here without signing in, and Search Everywhere covers Reddit and X together.

If an account hasn't turned on the 18+ setting, the API returns an access error, runs no search and charges nothing.

How to get access

  • Create an account. Sign up with your email.
  • Turn on 18+ tools. In Settings, confirm you are 18 or older and switch on 18+ tools. You can turn it off again whenever you like.
  • Run it. Use the playground in your dashboard, or call the endpoint from your code with your API key. The request format is in /docs/tools/reddit-nsfw-search.

Each call's cost is listed on this page and in the docs. Failed calls are not charged.
