Reddit search comments: how it works
Reddit's search box favors posts and communities, so comment results are easy to miss. This tool runs a Reddit search on comments only. Type a keyword, a brand or a phrase in quotes and you get the matching comments, each with its author, subreddit, score, age and the title of the post it belongs to.
Most of the useful talk on Reddit happens in comments. A post asks "what CRM should I use?" and the replies name tools, share prices and explain why someone left. Searching comments directly gets you those answers without opening every thread.
Reddit operators work inside the search text: "exact phrase", OR and NOT. The free page shows the first 10 comments and cuts each snippet at 280 characters. Sign in to see the full text and the full page.
Relevance or new
- Relevance puts the strongest matches first. Use it for research.
- New puts the latest comments first. Use it to keep up with mentions.
Comment search has no time filter. If you only care about recent talk, sort by new and stop reading once the dates get older than you need. Signed-in users and the API can also sort by top.
More ways to search Reddit
- Search posts with Reddit Post Search.
- Read every comment one person made with Reddit Comment History.
- Find comments that read like buying intent with the Reddit Lead Finder.
From code, call GET /v1/reddit/comments/search or the reddit.search_comments tool over MCP. The API also takes an author filter. See the API reference.
