PullPush alternative
ChatterAPI is not an archive. It searches live Reddit as far back as Reddit's own search goes, so it can't return deleted posts or comments. PullPush is a Reddit archive with Pushshift-style search endpoints, built on community data dumps. On Oct 14, 2026 its API answered our scripted requests with a rate limit error saying it does not provide free scraping for agents.
What PullPush is
- PullPush documents two legacy search endpoints, /reddit/search/comment and /reddit/search/submission. Both take Pushshift-style parameters such as q, author, subreddit, after, before, sort and size. source
- Its docs thank Reddit user Watchful1 for compiling the BitTorrent data for Reddit and say the service would not be possible without it. source
- The docs page links to a Reddit search page, a Reddit undelete page, a forum, a Discord server and a removals ticket system. Removal requests sent to Pushshift do not carry over to PullPush. source
- On Oct 14, 2026, a scripted request to the submission search endpoint returned HTTP 429 with the message: "This website does not provide free scraping resources for agents. Please contact the administrator on Discord if you're interested in a paid scraping service." source
- The same day, pullpush.io answered our non-browser requests with a Cloudflare security check instead of the docs page. source
- Its terms of service, as archived in February 2026, provide the service as is and name the Russian Federation as the governing law and venue. source
- In May 2026 a user in r/DataHoarder reported that PullPush returned nothing for threads one to two months old, though year-old threads worked. source
- In September 2026 a post in r/spezholedesign reported that PullPush had started archiving Reddit data from after May 2025. source
- In July 2026 Watchful1, whose dumps PullPush credits, took down his Academic Torrents pages at Reddit's request. source
When PullPush is the better choice
- You need posts or comments that were deleted or removed from Reddit. ChatterAPI reads live Reddit and cannot return them.
- You already have code written against Pushshift's search endpoints and want the same parameter style.
- You search by hand in a browser and only need a handful of lookups.
- You are working with older data, where community reports say its coverage is strongest.
When ChatterAPI fits
- You need what is on Reddit now: current posts, scores and comment counts, searched across all time with Reddit's own search.
- You call Reddit from code or an AI agent and need an API key built for that.
- You want to know the cost up front, which is a fixed number of credits per call.
- You also need X data with the same key.

Moving a live search from PullPush
- Sort your PullPush calls into two groups: lookups of deleted or old content, and searches for what is live on Reddit.
- Keep the first group on an archive. We can't serve deleted content.
- Replace submission searches with Reddit search. q maps to q and subreddit maps to subreddit.
- Replace after and before with the time window, and replace size with limit and the cursor.
