Search tweets with advanced operators

Search tweets on X by keyword, phrase or account with the same advanced operators X supports, and sort by latest or by most engaged.

Updated

How it works

  1. 1Type keywords, an exact phrase in quotes, or X search operators.
  2. 2Pick latest to see new tweets first, or top for the most engaged ones.
  3. 3You get matching tweets with authors, dates and engagement counts.

What you get

  • Tweet text, link, date and language
  • Likes, retweets, replies, quotes and bookmarks
  • Views, when X provides them
  • Whether it is a reply, and the quoted tweet id
  • Photos and videos attached to the tweet
  • Author name, handle, bio, follower count and DM status

Use cases

  • Find people asking for a tool recommendation in your category this week.
  • See the most engaged tweets on a topic before you write about it.
  • Pull every recent tweet from one account that mentions a keyword.
  • Check what people said about a launch or an outage in the last few hours.

How to search tweets with operators

Type a keyword and this tool searches tweets across X. It also understands X advanced search operators, so you can write a precise query without opening X's own search page. These are the ones people use most:

  • "exact phrase" matches the words in that order, like "crm recommendation".
  • from:handle limits results to one account. to:handle finds replies sent to it.
  • OR matches either word: notion OR obsidian.
  • -word excludes a word: crm -job.
  • min_faves:50 keeps tweets with at least that many likes. min_retweets: works the same way.
  • filter:links keeps tweets that contain a link. -filter:replies drops replies.

You can combine them: from:vercel nextjs, or "cold email" min_faves:20 -filter:replies. Retweets are left out by default so the same post doesn't show up many times.

Each result includes the tweet text, link, date, engagement counts and the author's profile with follower count and DM status. Views appear when X provides them. One free run shows the first rows of one page.

Latest or top

Latest returns the newest matching tweets first. Use it to monitor a keyword or to catch new questions while they're still worth answering.

Top returns the tweets X ranks as most engaged. Use it for research, to see what people already share on a topic.

To search for accounts instead of tweets, use X User Search. To find tweets where people ask for a product like yours, the X Lead Finder adds intent scoring on top of search. To search X and Reddit at once, try Search Everywhere.

Run searches from your code

The same search is available through the API at /docs/tools/x-search. The API adds date limits, a language filter and an option to include retweets, and it returns a cursor for the next page. A script or an AI agent can run a saved query on a schedule and act only on tweets it hasn't seen yet.
