How to search social media in one place
Searching social media usually means opening Reddit and running a search, then opening X and running it again. This tool does both at once. Type a keyword and it searches Reddit posts and X tweets in parallel, then gives you one list with a platform badge on each row.
By default the search looks back a month. It drops retweets, so you see original posts instead of the same tweet over and over, and it leaves out adult Reddit posts.
Query tips that work on both platforms:
- Quotes for an exact phrase:
"cold email"skips posts that only mention cold or email separately. - OR for alternatives:
notion OR obsidian. - Short keywords find more than full sentences.
If one platform is slow or unavailable, you still get results from the other, and the list tells you which one answered.
Newest or most engaged
Pick the order that fits your question.
- Newest: every match by the time it was posted, newest first. Use it to follow a conversation as it happens or to catch a question before anyone has answered it.
- Most engaged: the posts and tweets that drew the most reaction. Reddit scores and X likes are on different scales, so we rank each platform's results against each other first and then merge them. That way a popular tweet and a popular Reddit post both end up near the top, and one platform doesn't crowd out the other.
Search both platforms from your code
The same merged search is available through the API at /docs/tools/everywhere-search. You can set a time window anywhere from the past hour to all time, and a single cursor pages through both platforms together. For an AI agent that needs to know what people are saying, it's one tool call.
For one platform only, use Reddit Post Search or X Tweet Search. To track a brand name across Reddit comments as well, try Brand Mentions. To find people asking for a product like yours, use the Lead Finder.
