reveddit alternative

reveddit is a free site that shows what moderators removed. On Oct 17, 2026 it loaded, but its creator says Reddit's change about a year ago broke the site's tracking of removals. Its browser extension works again for your own content. ChatterAPI reads live Reddit only, so it cannot show text that moderators removed or authors deleted. Only archives that captured a comment before it was removed still have it, such as Arctic Shift and the Pushshift dumps.

What reveddit is

  • reveddit shows content removed by moderators, not content deleted by its author. You use it by adding ve or v into a Reddit URL. source
  • Its FAQ says removed content in subreddit and thread views depends on Pushshift, which can fall behind or go offline. source
  • Its creator writes that Reddit began letting moderators remove content from user profiles about a year ago. That broke the website's ability to track removals. The browser extension works again. source
  • On Oct 17, 2026 the site loaded with a banner saying Reddit's data restrictions may break it without notice. source
  • Its add-ons include Reveddit Real-Time, which notifies you when your content is removed. source
  • The Reveddit Real-Time Chrome extension was last updated Sep 13, 2026. source
  • The site says it is free and ad-free and asks for donations. Its code is public on GitHub and still updated. source

When reveddit is the better choice

  • You want to know when moderators remove your own posts or comments. Its extension does that.
  • You want to check one of your own threads by hand in a browser.
  • You want a free tool and don't need an API.

When ChatterAPI fits

  • You want a user's current public comments and posts, which our free Reddit comment history viewer shows without an account.
  • You want to search live Reddit posts and comments by keyword, subreddit and time.
  • You want to catch new posts and comments going forward by polling search on a schedule from code or an AI agent.
  • You also need X data with the same key.

What to use now that reveddit's site doesn't work

  1. For removed or deleted text, use an archive that captured it before removal. We can't recover it.
  2. For what a user has public right now, call the user comments endpoint with their username.
  3. For new content, search comments by keyword on a schedule and store what you find. If something is removed later, you still have your saved copy.
curl "https://chatterapi.com/v1/reddit/users/spez/comments" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $CHATTERAPI_KEY"

Questions

Is reveddit down?
Not fully. It loaded on Oct 17, 2026, but its creator says Reddit's change about a year ago broke the site's tracking of removed content. The browser extension works again for your own content.
Can ChatterAPI show removed Reddit comments?
No. It reads live Reddit. Since Reddit's change around September 2025, comments a moderator removes no longer appear in the author's public history either, so we can't show removed or deleted text.
Where can I find a deleted Reddit comment?
Only in an archive that saved it before it was deleted, such as Arctic Shift or the Pushshift data dumps. Coverage of recent content varies.
Is there a working replacement for reveddit?
reveddit is still online, and its browser extension can tell you when your own content is removed. For other people's removed comments, archives are the only source.
