Reddit and X data in n8n
There is no ChatterAPI node for n8n yet, but the built-in HTTP Request node covers it: add one Bearer credential, then call any endpoint as a GET request. For n8n AI agents, the MCP Client Tool node can connect to our hosted MCP server.
https://api.chatterapi.com/v1What you get
- Every Reddit and X endpoint in a workflow: search, threads, subreddits, users, followers, leads and brand mentions.
- JSON that your next node can split, filter and send to a sheet, Slack or a database.
- Pagination with
page.nextCursor, so a workflow can fetch more pages when it needs them.
Set it up
Create an API key
Sign in at chatterapi.com/signup with Google and create a key on the Keys page. You get 100 free credits. A
ca_test_key returns recorded samples for 0 credits, which helps while you set things up.Add a Bearer credential
In the HTTP Request node, set Authentication to Generic Credential Type, choose Bearer Auth and paste your key. n8n then sends
Authorization: Bearerwith each call.Call an endpoint
Set Method to GET and the URL to the endpoint. Put parameters in Query Parameters. You can also paste a curl command with Import cURL.
Import cURLcurl "https://api.chatterapi.com/v1/reddit/leads?q=crm&time=month" \ -H "Authorization: Bearer $CHATTERAPI_KEY"Split the results
Each result sits in
data. Add a Split Out node on thedatafield to get one item per post. For an AI agent, use MCP
Add an MCP Client Tool node to your AI Agent and set the endpoint to the MCP URL. Choose Bearer auth, and pick HTTP Streamable as the transport if your version offers it.

A lead search from a workflow
The HTTP Request node above returns JSON like this, taken from a real recorded call.
curl "https://api.chatterapi.com/v1/reddit/leads?q=crm" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $CHATTERAPI_KEY"{

Limits worth knowing
- The HTTP Request node supports Bearer auth as a generic credential type, and Header auth if you'd rather set the header by hand. source
- The node can import a request from a curl command, and you can set a timeout under Options. source
- The MCP Client Tool node supports Bearer, Header, Multiple Headers and OAuth2 auth. Its docs describe an SSE endpoint, so check which transport options your n8n version has. source
- n8n has no native ChatterAPI node yet, and ChatterAPI is not listed in n8n's integrations directory. The HTTP Request node is the supported route.
