Reddit and X data in Claude Code
Run one claude mcp add command and Claude Code can search Reddit and X, read full threads and look up users and followers through ChatterAPI's hosted MCP server. Nothing runs on your machine. Every result shows what it cost.
https://api.chatterapi.com/mcpWhat you get
- Every live Reddit and X tool is available as an MCP tool: search, threads, subreddits, users, followers, timelines, leads and brand mentions.
- Each result includes
credits.chargedandcredits.remaining, so the agent can see what it spent. - Every key gets two free tools:
chatterapi_accountfor your balance andchatterapi_list_toolsfor every tool and its cost. - You don't need a Reddit or X developer account. The same key works for REST calls and draws from the same credit balance.

Try a search
Ask in plain words. Claude picks reddit_search and passes the arguments below. The response is a real recorded call.
Search Reddit for posts from the past year asking which CRM a small business should use, and sum up what people recommend.

Limits worth knowing
- Claude Code warns when a single MCP tool output passes 10,000 tokens, and
MAX_MCP_OUTPUT_TOKENSdefaults to 25,000. Pass a smalllimitto keep results short. source - Requests to HTTP MCP servers time out after 60 seconds by default. Some Reddit reads take several seconds, so keep the default or raise it with
MCP_TOOL_TIMEOUT. source MCP_TIMEOUTsets the server startup timeout, which defaults to 30 seconds. source- The default scope is local, stored in
~/.claude.json. Project scope writes.mcp.jsonat the repo root. source
