Reddit and X data for AI agents
Most AI assistants can't read Reddit or X directly. Connect ChatterAPI's hosted MCP server and your agent can search both, read full threads and look up accounts. Each result shows what the call cost.
The job
Agents give better answers when they can see what people are saying now, and much of that is on Reddit and X. Without a data source, an agent guesses or tells you it can't browse there.
An MCP server exposes named tools with typed inputs, so the agent picks the right call itself. Because every result carries its credit cost, you can set a budget the agent can see.
How it works
Connect the server
Add the MCP URL and your key to your client. There are guides for Claude Code, Cursor and the OpenAI Agents SDK.
Build with a test key
A
ca_test_key returns recorded samples for 0 credits, so you can tune prompts for free.Set a budget
Tell the agent to read
credits.remainingand stop below a number you choose, and to pass a smalllimit.
Endpoints that do it
| Endpoint | What it's for | Credits |
|---|---|---|
| Search Reddit and XGET /v1/search | Reddit and X in one search, for a quick overview. | up to 5 credits |
| Search postsGET /v1/reddit/search | Reddit posts by keyword and time. | 2 credits |
| Get a thread with commentsGET /v1/reddit/threads/{id} | A thread with its comments, for detail. | 3 credits |
| Search tweetsGET /v1/x/tweets/search | Tweets with X search operators. | 3 credits |
| Get a userGET /v1/x/users/{handle} | Who an account is. | 3 credits |
Free tools for the same job
Try the job in a browser first. These tools call the same endpoints, and you don't need a key or any code.
One search across both
The agent calls the cross-platform search and gets Reddit and X results back in one merged list.

What it won't do
- ChatterAPI reads live Reddit and X. It does not return posts or comments that were deleted or removed.
- MCP clients set their own limits on tool count, output size and timeouts. Each integration guide lists the limits for its client.
